§ 14-40. Creation of tree board.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created and established a tree board for the City of Dublin, Georgia (hereinafter in this article referred as the to as "board").

    (b)

    The board shall consist of twelve (12) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Dublin, Georgia, and who shall be residents of Laurens County, but need not be residents of the City of Dublin, Georgia. These members shall include a registered landscape architect, a registered forester, recreation authority representative, public works department representative, Keep Dublin Laurens Beautiful, Inc. representative, Dublin City Council Member, Georgia Power Company representative, a representative of a utility company providing service within the corporate limits of the city and four (4) interested lay persons or garden club members. The board shall choose its own officers and keep minutes of all proceedings. A majority of the members present shall be a quorum for the transaction of business.

    (c)

    The term of the twelve (12) persons shall be three (3) years, except that the term of four (4) members appointed to the first term will be for one (1) year only, and the term of four (4) lay members of the first board shall be for two (2) years.

    (d)

    The board shall be responsible for writing and implementing the annual community forestry work plan upon the approval of the Dublin City Council.
